This week I was really trying to focus on the little things that can bring joy! As I have been doing that I have felt so much more happiness In my life! Count your blessings they truly add up! I received a book of amazing advice from sister Durfey, one of my past comps who I love to death, and one thing that she wrote in the book she sent me was about counting your blessing. I would like to encourage everybody to join me in this fun exercise of counting the blessings and tender mercies from the lord! At the beginning of the day put 10 pennies in one of your pockets and every time you recognize a tender mercies move one of the pennies over into the pocket on the other side! As we take the time to recognize the blessings we receive we can feel more blessed and love that we wouldn't have felt without taking time to recognize the lord. And at the end of the day in your prayers thank heavenly father for all those little blessings! I promise it will bring happiness into your life!
This week was jam packed crazy busy = crazy fun! Anybody who know me knows I can never sit still so busy weeks are my favorite!
We were able to meet up with the famous sister black from my last ward and it made my whole day! She was so sweet to drive out to visit and come to lunch with us. I love that lady! She is the best! The world needs more sister blacks!
We had another awesome meal this week with the Davis family! They were having a cook out and the kids had been cleaning the pool all day and wernt finnished so we offered to climb in and help clean it out! Needless to say not too long after we were in a water war which was a blast! Then we finished it off with my fav desert! SMORES! I was a very happy girl!
In our district council this week we role played inviting someone to be baptized and them rejecting it because of a concern. We had an awesome role play on it, learned alot then went on with our day... few hours later we are in an appointment and lo and behold the exact situation we role played for happened! It was so awesome to see how the spirit prepared us earlier in the day for the exact situation we would be placed in. His name is James and he would be in the hope mills 2 ward. He is on date for June 15.
One of the fun unique service opportunities we got this week was to help Anastasia dye her hair! We have been teaching Anastasia and Chris for a while now and wanted to be able to do something nice for her. So we played hair school and cut and dyed her hair with a mormon message marathon going Haha it was a blast! We are so glad it turned out!
Saturday was BY FAR my fav day!
It started out with a baptism that the elders in the ward had and we were able to get 6 people there! It was awesome! Later in the afternoon I've had this idea for a while to go to downtown and chalk art the plan of salvation to attract attention and questions. And we recently got the advice from someone to go down with a white board and question to have people answer it! So we did just that!! The board said " if you got to ask God one question, what would you ask him?" Deep right! So as we were walking down the main st before we even found a good place to stand and set up our sign. We had people approaching us and wanting to answer our questions. We met some amazing people with some deep questions. We even met someone from Utah (ogden) on a United states road trip! So cool!! We then wrapped up one convo and headed to the spot we wanted to set up, but on the way I saw two people, Josh and bridget, and decided to stop and ask them the question. We had an amazing conversation with them and 2 people came and joined in part way through... sadly one was a basher... and just wanted to pick an arguement with us so In the 100° heat we decided that the best way to get out of that convo was to head inside the shop we were outside for a drink. Turns out Josh owned the place and it was so amazingly cute iced tea place. (dont worry they had herbal tea and lemonade) hahah but we had like another hour conversation with him and the people that work there about who we are and some things that we believe! It was so awesome!!!! I love being a missionary and all the amazing experiences that come along with it!.... FUNNY STORY.... so the same guy who started to bash with us came up to us with his 2 friends right as we were headed out and asked if they could take us out to dinner and talk over some things. Hahahah we died, we had a dinner apt to get to so that was a good reason but we gave them our number if they have any questions about the gospel. Awesome Saturday! We are planning on going back next Saturday and doing the same thing!!
Something I loved about that question about God is how genuine peoples responses were. There are real people in this world with real questions about God, who He is, who they are to him, if they are doing enough, where we are going after this life. The amazing thing is that the gospel answers all of these questions! We have been so blessed with the knowledge that comes from knowing who Heavenly Father is.
I also love being able to know that we dont only have to ask God one question we have the ability to pray and ask him any question we want and he can answer us by the spirit.
This Sunday we lived like Utah missionaries and went to 3 wards!!!! It was a blast we got to sing in the 2nd ward again which was awesome. And in each ward we went to there was a high council member speaking on missionary work, my fav topic! It was a long but awesome sunday!
As always I love being a missionary! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Hit my 7 months this last week! I cant believe how the time has flown!
I would like to leave you with the same question we asked in downtown. If you could ask God one question what would it be? And why?
I'd love to hear back from you I hope you all have an amazing week!
Also shout out to my brother Porter this week! He turns 17! Crazy!?! Hope you have the best day bud!!
Love Sister kinne :))
