Welcome to day 12 of quarantine, I'm your host Sister Kinne and will at least be here in the apartment for 32 more days ordered by the state of NC! Weird week! SISTER BELL GOT TRANSFERED.... So our trios down to two.... so sad we miss her... we have sister bell shaped holes in our hearts... but the work continues :,).
We had some good lessons this week via Facebook messenger from our apartment! We invited jazzlyn to be baptized... and she says she wants to! Yay... it might take her some time... but it is a goal for her. FUNNY story... so we are reading 2 nephi 31 with her about the doctrine of Christ and about to invite her to be baptized when we hear "La Cucaracha" playing in the distance... lo and behold the ICE CREAM MAN COMES ROLLING UP RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR APARTMENT AND DECIDEDS TO TURN ON HIS SUBS AND OF COURSE ALL THE KIDS COME RUNNING OUT... so for about 10 straight minutes of our lesson was just me trying to hold back from bursting out in extreme laughter and keep the spirit! Needless to say I broke a few times... I guess thats just life... not Ideal but HILARIOUS!!!! <<< all of quarantine...
We had the neat opportunity of inviting lots of people to fast with us this past Sunday from all different Faith's. It was pretty neat to see people so willing to come together and unite in a cause for good and be able to hear the prophets voice!
I've been singing alot still too! Lmk if you have any favorite songs I'd love to check them out!
I got sent this amazing article about this whole quarantine thing that gave us a perfect example from the scriptures.... cause guess what folks this is not the first time this has happened and I would love to share it with you all today!
yesterday i legit asked my friend what day it was
.
i really didn’t know
.
i am almost ready to start tally marks on the wall to keep track of time
.
like the swiss family robinson did
.
since i’m living that same life
.
with animals just down the hall
.
on one night this week—not sure which, naturally—i remembered a favorite story from scripture
.
the jaredites
.
remember them?
.
in the barges
quarantined together
never knowing when it would end
with animals
.
for 344 days
.
do you love that they knew it was 344 on the dot
.
not “about 300” or “340ish”
.
someone kept tally marks
.
because every one of the marks represented a full day—full of everything days are full of when you are stuck in a barge together
.
my empathy and sympathy rose when i reread it this time
.
i am recommending it to you
.
you will relate to the lessons so poignantly you’ll almost feel the rocking of the sea as you move up and down the columns of verses
.
like this one:
.
“the wind did never cease to blow towards the promised land while they were upon the water”
.
there was wind the whole time
.
a fierce wind that never stopped
.
but it was the wind that moved them to the promised land
.
perhaps they couldn’t have gotten there that quickly...or at all...if the wind wasn’t as forceful
.
seems like God was in the wind
.
but it also seems like God was in the boats
.
the story says “they did have light continually”
.
whether they were riding on the top of waves or buried deep in disappointment
.
whether everyone’s optimism was up or whether the barges and moods were upside down
.
for every single one of those 344 days—the mundane and the manic—there was light
.
in each corner of each barge was a stone that had been touched by the finger of God
.
a constant reminder that He was there
.
that He was in this
.
and when they got there to the shores and all piled out...and saw the others they hadn’t seen in so many days...344 to be exact...of all the different things they would talk about and laugh about and cringe to remember...there was one thing they each would be able to say to one another
.
God was still there
.
on every one of the days we lost track of, He never lost track of us
-David Butler
He is always there and always aware!
I love you all and I'll see you in just 5 short weeks!
Love Sister Kinne!
