Hello wonderful friends and family! I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and was a week full of family and fun! I was so happy to get to talk to the kinne fam! They are the best!!!!
Christmas day was fun! We spent most the day with the blacks! They are so so fun we did white elephant and all got a mustache and had a blast! It was definitely a very memorable Christmas!!
This week has been pretty busy! Some of the highlights was being able to on exchange with sister Denning. And guess what!? She is also from layton!?!? No way right?!?! She went to Northridge and graduated the same year as me! We came to my area and she just got out of training and I'm still in training so we are both super new at this all but had an awesome productive two days together! We spent our first day in siler city contacting which was super awesome! We have a super fun time together and can talk about home and know exactly what each other are talking about which is kinda fun:)
The next day we got to go to st barts and served lunch like we do every week and is always super fun/interesting hahah. Then we went out visiting people but it was a hard time because everyone is out of town for the holidays, but we did catch one family right as they were leaving and they buckled all their kids in the car and just let us share a message out of the front seat! And I so wish i would have taken a pic hahah but it was so fun! Then we were able to stop by a less active house and share a message with them and it was really neat to see her recognize the spirit that she hadn't felt In a while.
We also serve at a food bank sorting food usually, but this week they needed us to walk people through to help them get their food, which was really neat. I love serving because of the effects that it has on all the people involved including myself. Serving is an awesome way to help emulate the Savior and all He did while He was here! Take any opportunity you can to serve those around no matter how big or small!
Then we exchanged back and Sister Nicolosi let me drive back to pittsboro because I was already logged in on the car, but on the way back we hit THE MOST INTENSE RAIN EVER!!! I couldnt even see the front of the car it was that heavy and thick!!! It was super scary to drive in but we made it! Haha and Sister Nicolosi said that was nothing compared to how heavy it gets the closer to the coast you get!
This week we had the awesome opportunity to follow up on a referral from the bishop! Her name is Selma and she is an awesome lady that suffers from Parkinson's disease. We have taught her 2 times now and read out of the book of mormon and she is just eating it up! She is just the sweetest lady ever and we are so excited to keep teaching her she is just loving it! She is also super excited to come to church with us this Sunday!
Something else we have going on this next week that Is exciting is JOES BAPTISM!!! we are so extremely excited! He was out of town for Christmas and we haven't seen him for a week but are so excited to get him ready for this Saturday! Its gonna be awesome!
So much has changed this year in the church some of that which includes
• Re-Emphasis on church name
• 2 hour church
• Ministering
• 11 year olds can get temple recommends
• Sisters can wear pants (all the sisters are going out shopping together this week lol)
• Greater emphasis on service missionaries
• Home centered church supported studies
And I'm sure so much more that I am missing, but with all this change going on I love how it all is helping us live to a higher and holier standard and become truely converted and a more Christlike follower of our savior Jesus Christ!
It's an exciting time to be serving the Lord and everyday feel so lucky to be able to be out here serving the people in North Carolina!!
And I hope as everyone starts setting goals for this new year you can set at least one goal on how you want to become more like your Savior, because that really is what we are here in this life to do and help those around us make it back.
I love this gospel and have a goal that by studying the Book of Mormon develope a greater more meaningful relationship with my Savior. I hope everyone has a happy new year and doesnt party too hard Haha love you all and I'd love to hear from you!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Love Sister Kinne :)
