I AM SO HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THAT NORTH CAROLINA ONCE AGAIN HAS A WORKING TEMPLE!!! Dedicated yesterday morning by President Ballard! And on Saturday we had the unique opportunity to meet with President Ballard as a mission! I am excited to share some of the things he taught with you all today!
But before President Ballard let me update you on the work here in Apex...SADLY we dropped Agnes... She said that she just doesn't have time in her life right now for God and that she feels like she can still be a good person and drink coffee... We are so sad and tired to help her recognize the blessings of the restored gospel, but SHE has to want it!
We went ABOVE and BEYOND this week to TESTIFY AND TALK TO EVERYONE!! There were moments this week that we turned into "those missionaries" who literally pulled over the car to get out and talk to someone on the sidewalk... CALL US CRAZY, but we KNOW there are people here who are prepared we just don't know where to find them!! And we actually met some pretty neat people!
Something I have learned while being in the south is how casual Christianity is. Just today we were in a store and this lady started talking with us about what we do as missionaries. She then proceeded to tell us about this new app she got on her phone and was SHOCKED we hadn't heard about it! She said " its so simple you just take three steps on this app and boom your a Christian, and accept Christ." WOW to some people out here being a follower of Christ is based on a status of an app! I am SO thankful that I dont need an app to tell me I am a follower of Christ! I am thankful for covenants and the gift of the Holy Ghost that remind me that I am a Daughter of Heavenly Parents who love me.
OKAY...PRESIDENT BALLARD!
We were first addressed by our area 70 and his wife! SO ADORABLE! They shared a few key principals and phrases I want to share with you all!
Elder and Sister Martino:
- MTC in the field stands for Make Time Count. Your mission will not be the BEST time of your life, but it will be the BEST thing for your life!
- " If it is to be it is up to me" WE have the control on how we act and react to the problems and hardships we face in our life! NO ONE ELSE!
- One of the greatest lessons we can learn in this life is how to let the spirit guide you!
President Ballard:
He gave us a beautiful sermon on BELIEVING!
There is a HUGE difference between accepting the gospel and believing it! We need to be believers in the world we live in today!
As a missionary when you have faith and believe your mission will become the most exciting and thrilling experience you will ever have!!
We need to push through all the clutter in this life and recognize the things that are important!
And I ask you the same question he left with us... WHERE IS YOUR BELIEF?
Life is not easy, it takes faith in knowing we are children of a God who loves us and more than ANYTHING WANTS US BACK!
I love you all and I am so thankful for the chance it is to be a missionary at this time! Its not easy, but it has changed me so much and I will forever be thankful for that!
Love Sister Kinne
