This week was busy, emotional, and long... not every week, or every day for that matter, is amazing and successful on the mission and I learned that this week. That's not necessarily a bad thing either, but an opportunity to be humbled and rely more on the Lord and that's always okay. We did quite a bit of service which was awesome and we had zone conference which was amazing. And among some of the not so fun things that happened this week we had some really cool moments with some people we are teaching!
We were able to get in contact with a Book of Mormon referral and she was so excited to read, so we are so excited for her!!! We also had an awesome lesson with a guy named Brandon and it was really cool and the spirit was there, but then we learned later that he has been taught before by missionaries and his mom thinks we are all polygamists so she is super anti-.... so we are working on that hahaha. We also started teaching 2 part member families and are excited about meeting with them these next few weeks! One of them came to church on Sunday and was able to sit in on the youth lesson with us! That was perfect for them all about personal revelation and finding doctrinal truths that apply in our lives!!
At zone conference President Holland gave us some amazing instruction on how we can become the best missionaries we can be! If you want to know how to be a good missionary the Book of Mormon provides a manual in Alma 17-27. Something that we have been sharing with members out of these chapters is in chapter 19 there is a woman named Abish. And Abish is a laminitish woman who sees ammon teaching king lamoni and the queen when they all fall to the ground when they are overcome with the spirit and all the servants that follow! She is a member of the church at that time that goes and gathers all the people in the town to see the miracle that has happened. Then they are all able to testify and many were converted! As members we have so much power in just bringing people either to church or to meet with the missionaries. Not everyone will always accept and that's okay, but the lord recognizes your efforts and you never know how far one single invitation will go! Just like abish we all have the duty to help our brothers and sisters make it back to the presents of our father in heaven.
Also all you missionaries will know who I'm taking about when I say we had a special guest come to our zone conference. Sister Voyles from the district 2 which means she is a celebrity in the mission world. Haha but she came and talked to us and answered questions which was super neat.
We also got an announcement that our mission will be taking in two new new stakes from the Chesapeake Virginia mission which is awesome! And we are also 1 of 10 missions starting a new service pilot where we should be doing 10-20 hours of service hours a week which is really exciting!!!
Then on Sunday it was ward conference and our amazing stake president came and spoke on light! He issued us a challenge to share more light in our lives by 4 simple steps and I'd like to share with you today as well.
1. Live the gospel of Jesus Christ .
2. Gather Israel through missionary work.
3. Care for the poor and needy.
4. Enable the salvation of the dead by identifying ancestors and performing vicarious temple ordinances for them.
By doing these things we can share our light and further the work in Zion.
ALSO IN SISTER KINNE NEWS... I CHOPPED MY HAIR! WHAT!? YEA it was looking a little dead on the ends and what better time to cut my hair I guess!? Haha
