Yes I survived! Storm Diego hit us this Sunday and you would have thought there was going to be an apocalypse in North Carolina! Saturday we got the storm warning and had to go to the store to prepare and everyone in all of Pittsboro was there which was a great place for contacting hahah! The shelves were EMPTY! Milk, gone. Eggs, gone. Bread, gone. We woke up Sunday morning to a whopping 3 inches of snow and church was cancelled?!?! Coming from Utah super weird!! You have 3 feet of snow but that is stopping no one from going to school! Haha super funny! But it is because they dont have plows here and it's so wet it just freezes and turns to ice so it's super dangerous to drive. And no one here knows how to drive in the snow, and in Utah we are bred for that. The only bad part is that that means we cant drive either so we were pretty much house bound all day, because everyone lives so far from us. We did walk to one members house however and got drentched haha. We were also the only people out in the whole city!!! But it was fun!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful week full of service and fun! I had a strange week. Tuesday I started a 3 DAY EXCHANGE!!! Crazy, what?! I went with Sister Simoes again to Cary and we taught this girl named Amanda, this was my second time teaching her. She is super sweet and has a really cute son named
Bi Chang. We invited her to be baptized and she said she would pray about it. So I hope she does, but she has been reading the book of mormon so I hope so. :) that night we also had the chance to go to a non member and less active member devotional that President Holland was giving at NC state which was super cool! We had Liam come with us (he's 15, his mom got baptized last year and has been investigating since then) it was super cool. President Holland talked about Joseph Smith and how the Book of Mormon is a witness that he was a true prophet of God! Did you know Christ is mentioned 1.7 times per verse in the Book of Mormon! It testifies of Christ and teaches us how we can come closer to Him!
Day 2 on exchange we had a lesson with Liam and didnt go so well, he told us he doesnt believe in God anymore, but the Cary Sisters will continue to work with him and all we can do it pray for him to feel the love God has for him! We also got the chance to go to the Apex stake center and help clean for the nativity! Every year they have a huge nativity set up with over 500 different little nativity set up throughout the room. It was really neat and gets lots of people to come in our church and see what it's like!
Day 3 on exchanges we went to a bible study group at the women's shelter in Raleigh, which was neat and loved being able to talk with them about the Savior this Christmas season! Then after we exchanged back we were able to go visit a referral in Siler. Her name is Thomocina and she had requested a bible. We loved being able to sit down and talk with her and we are hoping to go back soon when the weather gets better to give her a book of mormon.
Friday we had first transfer training which was awesome. We had to drive about an hour but it was awesome because I got to see all my friends from the MTC! And we got to learn from president Holland on The Book of Mormon and how to include it more in our teachings. I wish I could send everything I am learning some how to all of you but its impossible! Haha so much amazing things doctrine wise and spiritually it's crazy awesome! All I can really tell you is how important the book of mormon is! When you read find connections to your life it will bless you more then you know! Take the time to talk about it with the people around you and the things you are learning and you will better be able to recognize the blessings God has waiting for you!
Later that night went back to Apex to meet some members friends at the nativity which was neat also.
Then Saturday we got the storm warning so we were on prep duty for the storm. And again later that night went to Apex for the nativity to meet some people we are teaching but they didn't come.:( This week we could really use some prayers for the people we are teaching. So many of them are just right on the brink of accepting the gospel but are holding back! So please pray that they will recognize the message we have is from God and have a desire to accept the gospel into their lives!
I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God written for these latter days. I know that by feasting on its words we can recognize and receive answers to our prayers! I know that as a read and apply the things we learn we can come closer to our Heavenly Father, then once we know we can help bring others back into his fold as well! This week I found a scripture in Alma 7:23 and decided that this is going to become my anthem and trying to develop these Christlike attributes on my mission! Go read it and see what Christlike attribute you can try to develop this week!!
Love you all and I hope to hear from you today!
Find ways to light the community this week!!!
Love Sister Kinne
